Agentic AI

What is an Agentic AI?

Agentic AI describes AI systems that plan and carry out multi-step tasks with some autonomy, choosing actions and tools to reach a goal, rather than only generating a single answer to a prompt.

Last reviewed · Dexorn Technologies

Agentic systems loop through reasoning, acting and checking results. They are typically given a goal, a set of permitted tools and rules about when to stop or escalate.

In business settings agentic AI is most useful for repetitive, rule-bound work such as triaging enquiries, processing documents or following up on leads, with humans approving sensitive decisions.

Examples

  • Researching and scoring new leads
  • Triaging support tickets and drafting replies
  • Coordinating several specialised agents (multi-agent systems)
